Waist belts built for running, race days and trail use

We focus on one thing: waist belts that carry what runners need, without getting in the way. The range is suited to training runs, race entries, long trail days and organised events where participants need simple access to bottles, nutrition, keys and a phone. The fit is close and steady, which matters on gravel descents, tar roads and the sandy sections runners often hit along the coast.

Clients come to us for practical details rather than guesswork. We help with belt sizing, carry layout and the right setup for the distance or event type. Whether the group is running 10 km in Stellenbosch, a road race in Bellville or a trail event near George, the aim is the same: keep the load low, keep the body moving naturally, and make refuelling easier on the go.

  • Running waist belts for individual athletes and event groups
  • Hydration carry for bottles, soft flasks and basic race fuel
  • Options for trail runs, road races, fun runs and club events
  • Support for both casual joggers and competitive runners

Who we supply across South Africa

Our clients include trail runners, road runners, race organisers, clubs, sports event teams and participant groups. Some need a small batch for a local challenge, others need full event planning support for hundreds of runners. We also assist crews and support teams who need a simple way to carry essentials during event-day work.

Because South African events differ from town to town, we keep things flexible. A summer race in Durban will have different hydration needs to a winter trail event in the Boland, and a windy coastal route in Cape Town may call for a tighter carry setup than an inland road loop. We work with those realities and aim for kit that stays comfortable in heat, dust and the occasional load-shedding affected event schedule.

  • Trail runners looking for stable carry on uneven terrain
  • Road runners wanting light hydration without a backpack
  • Race events needing participant-ready supply and packing support
  • Clubs and schools placing repeat or seasonal orders

How we handle sizing, planning and dispatch

Getting the right fit matters. That is why we assist with participant sizing, product fit briefing and order planning before anything is packed. For events, we can help map out sizes by entry list, age group or club split so the distribution side runs smoothly on collection day. If you are managing a race pack schedule, we can also help with insert planning and dispatch coordination so the belts arrive where they are needed, when they are needed.

Our process is practical and straightforward. You send an enquiry through the contact page, we work through the brief, then we guide the order from sizing to packing. For repeat clients, the benefit is speed and consistency because we already know the common preferences, the local event timing and the kind of setup that works best for the runners involved.

  • Bulk order planning for events and clubs
  • Participant sizing support for mixed groups
  • Custom colour runs and crew belt kits
  • Race pack inserts and event day support
  • Repeat order support for annual fixtures

Local Running Insight

From Stellenbosch trails to city road races, our range reflects the conditions South African runners actually face.

Why runners choose a waist belt instead of extra carry

A good waist belt is often the right middle ground between carrying too much and carrying too little. Runners want water close at hand, but they do not want the feel of a bulky pack moving around on the back. On longer training runs or race day, that smaller carry profile can make a real difference to comfort and pace.

We see this especially with runners doing marathons, trail events and early morning sessions when the body is still warming up. A stable waist belt can hold the essentials, keep shoulders freer, and avoid the heat build-up that many people get with larger packs. For runners training through Cape Town humidity or inland heat near Johannesburg and Paarl, that lower profile is often the better choice.

It is a simple idea, but it works. Keep the load close, keep the access easy, and keep the run feeling natural. That is the standard we build around.

Based in Stellenbosch, serving runners nationwide

We are based in Stellenbosch in the Western Cape and regularly supply clients in Cape Town, Stellenbosch, Johannesburg, Durban, George, Paarl, Somerset West and Bellville. Being in the Boland gives us a good practical view of what South African runners deal with, from dusty trail sections and strong sun to wet coastal mornings and long event weekends.

Our location also helps with local response times for the Western Cape, while our dispatch coordination supports clients further afield. Whether the order is going to a club in Somerset West or an event team in Durban, we keep the packing and delivery side clear and organised so there is less stress for the people running the event.

  • Johannesburg and surrounding Gauteng routes
  • Durban, George and other regional event centres

Since 2012, clients have come back for the same reason

Waistbag Run has been working since 2012, and the reason clients return is simple: the kit does what runners need it to do. Over time, we have built repeat relationships with clubs, event teams and individual athletes who want reliable supply, sensible advice and a straightforward ordering process. That consistency matters when events are planned months ahead and race day leaves little room for error.

Our team covers product development, sales, production, customer support and logistics, so the practical side is handled by people who know where problems usually happen and how to avoid them. Michael van der Merwe leads the business as Managing Director, with Ayanda Ndlovu on product development, Leandri Botha handling sales and events, Sibusiso Khumalo overseeing production, Zanele Petersen on customer support and Jaco Visser managing logistics and dispatch. It is a small team but everybody knows their part, which keeps orders moving properly.

Clients often come back because they want the same fit, the same reliability and the same easy communication again. That is especially true for annual races, club entries and custom colour runs where the details have to line up year after year, not just once.
